Prof. Thurow appointed as a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung

Prof. Dr. Kerstin Thurow was appointed to the scientific advisory board "Material" by the President of the Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing) in consultation with the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection. The appointment is for a period of 3 years.

The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) has been dedicated to research, assessment and advice on safety aspects in chemistry and technology since its foundation. Today, new materials are among the key technologies of a modern industrial society. They are used, among other things, in the generation and storage of energy, in innovative sensors or in the health industry and are often bio-based polymers and nanocomposites. The BAM material design section is dedicated to the development of new types of materials and thus represents an essential interface to all BAM subject areas.

With the appointment of Prof. Thurow to the scientific advisory board, the area of automated materials research is to be strengthened in particular. The development of suitable systems and system components is an important task in order to make the high-throughput processes already established in other areas also available for the area of materials research and characterization.
